What is Critical Thinking and why you might try to practice Critical Thinking?
Here are my enduring understandings about becoming a Critical Thinker:
Critical Thinkers believe that they can make better choices by questioning and articulating why, how and what they think, say and do.
Critical Thinkers have clear objectives: Creating more and better options and making better choices.
Critical Thinkers are always on the lookout for better options and actively engaged in the process of trying to disprove their best ideas.
Critical Thinkers always try to articulate words such as "better" for specific situations: "Better" choices can mean accountable, evidence-based, objective, fair, far-sighted and even short-sighted.
Although Critical Thinkers choose to address difficult and complex issues and problems, Critical Thinking need not be so serious. It can be a game, a sport, a hobby, a puzzle, a lifestyle choice etc.
Critical Thinkers find friends who are willing to challenge their ideas.
Critical Thinkers trust their instincts but are also prepared to verify them.
Practicing Critical Thinking regularly will improve your instinct.
Practicing Critical Thinking regularly can help you prepare for making difficult decisions more confidently and more quickly if and when you need to.
The Three Most Important Critical Thinking and Communication Skills:
1: Inquiring/ Active Listening: Essential, Guiding questions, doubts ...
2: Articulating: Clear and meaningful ideas, opinions, interpretations ...
3: Elaborating: Clear and transparent reasons, support, assumptions ...
